Cricket Pitch Maintenance

An Artificial Sports Surface is ideal for cricket surfaces, practice nets and full length wickets. They can be laid on a shock pad base, which in turn is either laid on a dynamic (stone) base or an engineered (macadam) base.

Artificial surfaces that have a little longer pile height are installed in the majority of ECB approved wicket facilities. Wilton Woven Artificial Grass pile is slightly longer and more porous than needle pinched surfaces.

In order to keep cricket pitch surfaces playable they require regular brushing and chemical treatments. Detritus left to contaminate the pitch can have very adverse effects on the pitches performance. Bowlers’ run-up areas which are constructed using sand filled/dressed carpets will require additional monitoring of sand levels to ensure even distribution, preventing pitch collapse.
